Da People’s Assembly

Da People’s Assembly was founded by Brigette Brantley, a NYC educator, when her interview coverage of the George Floyd protests went viral.

“After an outstanding show of support from people worldwide, I started Da People's Assembly as a non-profit organization to give back to communities of color across the country through mutual aid, community events, social justice organizing, and education,” Brigette says.

Inspired by her son and sickened by the unarmed killings of black men and women, Brigette felt she had no choice but to get up, get out and do something.

“I was just like everyone tired of seeing my people murdered for the world to watch and then not get justice in the end. It sparked a fire in my soul and I refused to sit at home and be complacent,” says Brigette. “Being a single black mom raising a black son in America, I don’t’ want to lose him to the unjust system or by the hands of the police. So starting the Da Peoples Assembly was a way for me to change the narrative for my son and others like him.”
