Rowan Frederick

Meet Rowan Frederick – Administrator for Inpatient Health Services for NYC Health and Hospitals

Prior to becoming a manager, Rowan was an administrator for impatient behavioral health. His duties were quite vast from investigating issues or complaints made by patients to helping support staff with budgeting and other daily tasks. During this time, he was on the front lines during the pandemic not only administering care to patients but also addressing any issues the may have with hospital staff.

“Because I worked with the front-line staff, I understand them better and can relate to their day-to-day work. I know the toll the job can take on them and can recognize when their voices are not being heard,” says Rowan. This experience helped Rowan to not only hear them and address their concerns, but also bridge any gaps between them and patients.

Rowan also worked closely with mental health patients and has seen all too often what happens when mental health is not addressed properly. “We have to destigmatized mental health,” he says. “You never know what anyone is going through and just a stressful day can cause someone to go over the edge. We can’t just categorize them as crazy.”

Rowan embodies the spirit of Attorneys with Swag because he always sought to help empower his staff and patients to use their voice and be heard. Whether it was a complaint or an idea, Rowan always sought to listen and provide support to those who need him in any capacity. And because of that, Rowen is the perfect candidate for our Unsung Hero of the Week.
